Having no prior experience planning a funeral, the patience and compassion shown to me was tremendous. Nicole went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for my mother’s funeral.

Meet Nicole Birch-Parfitt, White Lady Funerals Charlestown location manager

How long have you been in the funeral industry?
I have been working in the funeral industry as an arranger since 2019. Prior to that, my professional experience involved working in schools, primarily in administration and as a teacher's aide. Transitioning into the funeral industry has allowed me to utilise my organisational and interpersonal skills in a different context, supporting families during difficult times

What do you like about being a funeral arranger?
What I love about being a funeral arranger is the opportunity to meet and support beautiful families during their time of need. It's a role that requires providing help and direction, which can be challenging and heartbreaking at times. However, despite the emotional demands, I find it to be the most rewarding job I've ever had. Being able to make a difference in people's lives during such a sensitive period is truly fulfilling.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time, I have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy exploring in our bus. I also find running to be a fulfilling activity. I actively participate in fun runs that aim to raise money or awareness for various charities. Some of the causes I have supported include The Bloody Long Walk for Mito Disease, raising awareness for LifeLine, I run to support victims of domestic violence, and the March Charge for Cancer Council. Currently, I am training for the Oxfam 100km to raise funds for achieving a sustainable future without poverty. On weekends, you'll often find me out on the trails, embracing nature and pursuing my running endeavours.

What’s one thing people don't know about you?
One thing that people may not know about me is that I don't like brown chocolate at all. However, I love white chocolate. I am the youngest of four children and a twin, my older brother and sister also share the same birthday, and my amazing mum had 4 children in three years.
